Robert I. Knibb
Bob is a Founding Partner of the Firm and has shared overall responsibility for all management and investment activities of the Firm since inception. In total, Bob has over 23 years of private equity experience in a variety of industries. He has been involved in more than 20 acquisitions representing in excess of $4.2 billion in aggregate enterprise value.
Prior to co-founding Arlington, Bob was a senior member of the investment team at MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings, Inc., a diversified investment company, which is the principal investment vehicle of Ronald O. Perelman. As a member of the senior management of MacAndrews & Forbes, Bob worked with management and the boards of directors of portfolio companies implementing strategic initiatives, acquisition and divestiture programs, recapitalizations and refinancings. Notable transactions which Bob led include the $655 million acquisition of The Coleman Company, the $140 million recapitalization of MacAndrews & Forbes Company and the restructuring and sale of Genstar Rental Electronics. In addition, during his 13 years with MacAndrews & Forbes, Bob also was very involved in more than 20 other successful deals including Consolidated Cigar, First Gibraltar, Revlon, Toy Biz and Frigitronics.
Prior to MacAndrews & Forbes, Bob was an associate in the Corporate Development Department of Warner-Lambert, a multinational pharmaceutical company. Bob began his business career as a securities analyst in the Pension Investment Department of Warner-Lambert.
Bob earned an M.B.A. from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and holds a B.S. degree, magna cum laude, from Union College with a major in Mathematics. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Bob is currently on the Board of Directors of TSI Group, Inc. He has previously been a member of the Board of Directors of NLX Holdings Corporation, Stonebridge Technologies, Genstar Rental Electronics and John Patrick Publishing. He is a trustee of Eastern States Exposition.
